2023-2024 Job Market Candidate
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
My primary research field is labor economics, with interests in internal migration, retirement, and demographic transition. In my job market paper, I estimate the elasticity of substitution between prime-age and marginal-retirement-age workers by investigating the impact of internal migration of prime-age workers on relative employment and earnings between the two labor cohorts.
My secondary research field is regional economics. I analyze how nascent and established firms react differently to credit supply shocks in a region, how negative net migration affects local economic outputs and income inequality levels, and how the COVID pandemic impacts local housing and labor markets.
In other projects, I assess the impact of regional events and business decisions, like the Chicago Marathon and Ameren's job expansion in the capital/O&M sector, on regional output, income, and employment.
